Dr. Dog’s “B-Room”

Dr. Dog’s seventh album , B-Room, as told by Anna Jackson from CD Review committee:

Anna Says: Nellie and Love are the best and sound like old Dr. Dog, the other songs sound less complete than previous albums. The banjo, however, is a nice ode to old Dr. Dog.

Mixes well with: Little Green Cars, The Decemberists, Tennis, The Shins

{Awayland} by The Villagers

The villagers released their sophomore album, {Awayland}, following the similar soothing, neutral sounds of their debut album, Becoming a Jackal, seemed to perfect.

Here’s what Carrie had to say: Relaxing album, orchestral elements mixed with electronics. Awayland is atmospheric, no lyrics.

Mixes well with: Youth Lagoon, Patrick Watson, Fleet Foxes, Great Lake Swimmers

Here’s a little taste:

CMJ Music Marathon 2013 Part 2

Over the past few days the WUSO Executive Board explored New York while attending various panels.  The subjects of the panels ranged from getting a career in the Radio Industry and the importance of the different roles in the station to how to expand your station’s horizons.   In the afternoons we explored the city by attending various concerts and venues.  On Wednesday the group spent the night at The Bowery Ballroom to see Alpine, Kodaline, Magic Man, and Basecamp.

On Thursday, we enjoyed the events of College Day by discussing the ways to overcome some of the difficulties of being a college station as well as brainstorming ideas of how to overcome these problems.   Later we attended the Music Director’s Summit in order to learn about the responsibilities of the music director and how we can expand our methods of finding new music.  Following the summit, all of the stations came together for lunch.  In the evening we took on Manhattan to attend more concerts.  We found ourselves at Santos Party House to see HAERTS and Little Daylight.
