Years at WONC: 2007-2009

Mallory spent her two years at WONC well, creating Feel Good Fridays with her future husband, Marc, and serving as the Public Affairs Director. Despite enjoying her time on the air, Mallory chose to take her career in a different direction after graduation, pursuing a Master of Social Work at Aurora University and interning at Easter Seals Joliet and Naperville Community School District 203.

Upon completing her graduate program in 2012, Mallory became the Associate Manager of Youth Initiatives with the American Diabetes Association. In 2015, she was promoted to the position of Manager of Community Health Strategies and the Illinois Camp Program, and used her public speaking experience gained through her public affairs work at WONC to run community events and camp programs in Illinois for children and teens with diabetes, leading over 200 volunteers each summer. In 2017, Mallory began working for Glenview School District 34 as a school social worker for K-2nd graders, a position she currently holds.

Mallory says that what she learned in her time at WONC has been very valuable to her career: “I’ve used the confidence I built up at WONC in so many ways, from written work to speaking in front of hundreds of people at one time.”
